Epic Photos – Company History:
It all started with a problem:
The mastermind behind the Epic Photos brand is Derek Scott. Having spent years working in the wedding industry as one of premier photographers in the Dallas / Fort Worth area, Derek continually ran into brides and grooms who were having the same problems.
The couples wanted a great photographer, but they only had the budget for a “new,” “below average” or ”unreliable” photographer. These couples wanted and deserved great photography, but they were being forced to choose between great quality and affordability. They could either spend “an arm and a leg” for a “quality” photographer, or they could role the dice by booking a “family friend” or someone “who was just starting out” at a discount.
The quality vs. affordability debate:
Year after year, as a lone-photographer Derek found himself having to turn down event after event because many of the couples who wanted him to photograph their weddings simply did not have the budgets to afford him. More often then not, he was even unable on the date of their weddings. And so he began asking the questions:
- “What would happen if I could charge a much lower price without compromising my quality?”
- “What would happen if I could duplicate myself in a systematic way?”
Over the next few months all Derek could think about was finding a way to build a large scale nation-wide photography operation that would allow couples to have a incredible photography at an affordable price. After countless hours of planning, meeting and consulting with top-notch industry professionals, Epic Photography was born.
How it works:
When you book with Epic Photography the health of your wedding is not based upon the health of one specific photographer. In the wedding industry, it is not uncommon to see companies called, “Sarah’s Photography” of “Smith’s Photography.” When you book a company like this for your event, you are essentially hiring “Sarah” or “Mr. Smith” to actually shoot your wedding. Sarah and Mr. Smith are agreeing to personally be at your wedding and they want to be. However, if they get sick or if they get injured Sarah & Mr. Smith do not have a viable backup plan. If Mr. Smith’s camera breaks or if Sarah has her gear stolen she does not have a contingency plan. Thus, most couples find themselves hoping and praying that their photographer wears a helmet around town, stays healthy and gets much sleep the night before their wedding. Time and time again, couples will call us at the last minute telling us that their photographer “had an emergency” and can’t make it to their big day. The small companies are trying to be flaky, but the reality is that they are humans and as a human, we will occasionally have emergencies and we will occasionally get sick. However, at Epic Photography if one of our photographers gets sick we have you covered. Because we staff well over 100 photographers from coast to coast we will never leave you high and dry on the biggest day of your life.
When choosing Epic Photography, you will experience fun photographers with great attitudes who take great photos. On the day of your wedding it will be you, your fiance and the photographer for many hours. Think about it here…On the biggest day of your life, on the biggest stage of your life, on the ultimate “dream date” it will be just you, your fiance and “the photographer.” This could be awkward or this could be fun. When you work with Epic, your photographer will have you laughing, smiling and acting natural as you go from one photo to the next.
After your wedding has concluded your Epic Photographer will take his equipment back to the local / regional storage facility. There the equipment will be inspected for damage, and the photos will be backed up onto a redundant server. Using the latest technology, the photos will then be uploaded to our nation-wide “cloud servers.” From this server, your photos will be edited within 2 weeks by our skilled nation-wide editing team.
Because our editors work on a full-time basis editing photos from coast to coast, they are simply the best in the industry, and they are the fastest. From the time your photos are taken, to the time that your photos are returned to you will be approximately 2 weeks (or faster). Forget about waiting for 4 months for your photos to get back to you.
What takes most photographers so long to edit your photos?
When you work with small company like, “Sarah’s Photography” you must realize that “Sarah” is the sales team, the photography team, the accountant, the bookkeeper, the chief editor, the maintenance department, the customer service department, the order processing division and so on…At Epic Photography we staff individuals for each one of these positions so that things can be done by experts and so that your photography experience can be handled with peak levels of efficiency.
